Lily Dale, NY that is.

Do you remember the movie Somewhere In Time? If you don’t – a brief synopsis. SIT is a sort of mystical and magical love story where Jane Seymore and Christopher Reeve are in different era’s and they’re bound to meet through time and space. Time travel? Teleportation? Not knowing the author’s intent leads me to draw my own conclusions from a Spiritualist viewpoint. Lily Dale reminds me of that movie. Victorian homes in varying colors adorned with intricate gingerbread work, line the narrow streets of this little enclosed town. With meeting halls, churches, an auditorium, a library, gift shops, and even a small cafe or two, this tiny town is a world unto itself.

I’m in Lily Dale, NY this weekend for a few classes and as expected I’ve not been disappointed. Founded in 1879, Lily Dale is the largest center for Spiritualist studies in the world. I try to visit once per summer to re-connect and re-group. I’ve always found very interesting topics to explore and enjoy the tiny town feel – of course the wonderful little gift shops and the beautiful surrounding area help to make my stay memorable.

My classes for this weekend are “The Law of Attraction”, “Ghosts on the Battlefields” and “Ghosts of Gettysburg”. The Law of Attraction proved very interesting and not what was expected, which was nice. Following the teachings of the Monroe Institute, the instructor, Maureen Caudill, introduced what is called the Hemi-Sync technique, which serves to quickly bring you to a deeper degree of a meditative state. Many degrees were explored, from waking state to very deeply under and boy, did we do some pretty deep exploration.

As so many people are hopping on The Law of Attraction bandwagon, I wasn’t sure if this class was going to be more of the same old thing. But, as part of the class description was spoon bending of course I couldn’t resist. No, I didn’t bend a spoon, but I did do a pretty fair job of mangling a fork!

Ghost classes to follow…

Blessings ~ Lisa
