If you’ve seen the movie, Ghost, with Patrick Swayze and Whoopie Goldberg, you have been introduced to a séance, or spirit circle. Whoopie Goldberg, portraying a pseudo-psychic who bilks customers out of money, begins to hear and see real spiritual entities around her. In one scene Whoopie’s character, Oda Mae Brown, sits with a small group of people to perform a séance. Thinking that her scheme is going to gain her a good sum of money, Oda Mae is shocked to find that she can actually see the many spiritual beings that happen to be standing around the perimeter of the room.
In an effort to alleviate the fears of those unacquainted with séance, the mental image of Oda Mae’s séance room is exactly what I use to describe what I see before and during the séance. Although I can sense higher-level spiritual beings, such as angels and guides, before the guests arrive it’s not too often that I sense deceased loved ones prior to the event – they normally walk in with their loved ones.
As the guests sit in a circle, their deceased loved ones, standing behind them, often touch a shoulder declaring their bond with the living. Ancestors are in attendance to support, reconfirm the never-ending bond of love, and communicate once again with those they left behind. Ever loving, our ancestors often bring through messages with their personality traits in tact, just as we knew them. This is one of many ways in which spirit confirms their true identity.
Many other forms of spiritual entities also frequent a séance, such as spiritual guides, angels, our personal Council of Elders, and Ascended Masters. The later three often stand in the background of the séance room, directing, guiding and providing protection for those that are sitting in circle. As you can imagine, the séance room is quite full – with standing room only.
One by one, spirit tune to my frequency much like a radio tuner (You have to tune into the correct station to hear a specific broadcast), enabling communication. Many in spirit are able to do so quite well, yet neither them, nor I, can guarantee communication due to many factors. And yes, just as in Ghost, there are spiritual beings that like to talk. Keeping in mind that we carry our personality traits with us whether we’re in physical bodies or not, if a loved one was chatty while living, they will more than likely be chatty during the séance. Emotions will be experienced, whispers heard, slight touches upon the body may be felt, and visual sightings are a few of the phenomenon that can be experienced by those sitting in the circle, even without prior experience or training.
