Zen is a form of meditation with focusing on the mindful awareness of the present moment. The phrase “being Zen” or “having a Zen attitude” has come to mean viewing life calmly with self-control. Zen is the harmonious state of the mind, body, and soul. It can help you relax, have a positive outlook on life, and find a higher plane of spiritual self.
“Zen” originated from the Japanese, however has also been known to have been altered and influence by the Chinese, Islamic and Buddhists. That being said, you can imagine how each culture has influenced the interpretation of Zen-like non-activity.
As humans, we filter all our experiences through our perceptions. Zen means waking up to the present moment and seeing things exactly as they are without our interference. We are too busy experiencing our own subjective version of existence to be in a Zen-like state.
