Theoretically, an empath and a clairsentient is the same thing. The term empath, or being empathic, seems to be the buzzword over the last 10 to 15 years. Whether this is due to the advanced population of crystal, rainbow, and indigo children, or simply a way for the spiritual community to recognize those that have exceptionally high resonance to people, places, and things.
Here’s a handy breakdown.

Empath
- Feels emotions and energy of people in the environment around them.
- Capable of perceiving the pain of others at close proximity.

Clairsentient
- Senses what others are thinking.
- Capable of perceiving when someone is in danger or pain, even at a distance.
- Capable of sensing when someone is watching them.
- Can be highly aware of environmental issues even if they are far from the area.

So which are you? Most of us are actually a combination of the two. Being clairsentient, you also have the characteristics, traits, and abilities of the empath. However, in my findings, an empath can be more physically and emotionally troubled by what they perceive.
Simply put because we’re mammals we’ll always have the ability to tune into and actually use our sixth sense, which is actually clairsentience. Unfortunately, however, many of us don’t follow those gut instincts because they often don’t seem logical or can’t be proven… that is until the proof is in front of us. It’s when we’re faced with the fact that our gut instincts are bang-on that we sit up and take notice. This was the case for me as a young adult, and you’ve likely gone through this yourself.
I often recommend to new students that they test their abilities with mundane or inconsequential decisions. What does your gut tell you about something or someone? What are you feeling when you walk into a room? Do you feel you’re going to have a good day? You get the idea. You can ask your body to tell you the answer to a yes or no question pertaining to just about every choice there is to make in your daily living. Give it a try. I’ll bet your animal-like instincts are quite intact.
