I’d like to talk about making a meditation practice easy on yourself as well as easy to integrate into your daily life. I’d like to start with what I consider the three easiest forms of meditation, which are guided, mantra, and zen.
In a guided meditation you are prompted so you’re not losing the battle with the monkey mind. YouTube has a vast array of free guided meditations from which to choose. Play around with different topics, narrator voices, background music, etc. Find what most appeals to you, what is soothing, and doesn’t distract you. Here’s a great one from my friend Colette Baron-Reid that’ll help you release stress.

Honor Thy Self
For those who struggle to honor their true selves.
We tend to look outside of our situation in most cases for answers to life’s issues. As I say that I also know that most of us want to be seen for who we are as a person.
My question to this would be, why do we need approval/acceptance from the people around us or the people that maybe are not around us but that from a distance we have decided to respect, or should I say “expect”?
There is no one out there that knows more than we do about who we truly are or what we want and need, but we tend to reach out in expectation of someone either telling us how or what we should do or be. Emulating or learning from someone is fine as long as you don’t also obsess over their approval or recognition.
In my humble opinion that is where we screw up. No one knows those answers better than we ourselves do. Not one other person has lived our life or has experienced, in the same way, what we have. So why is it that we look for certain people’s approval? Might it be that we’re seeking validation? But then, we must understand that the person we’re seeking to emulate or receive praise from has their own agenda… and you might not fit into that! Thus, we bang our heads in frustration… Why NOT me? When is it MY time? See ME!
When we search and long for happiness while we are expecting or wanting another person’s approval, are we not blocking what we seek or should naturally become? No one else knows about us as much as we do! What if we just became who we are, found that happiness and moved forward without worry? Without approval? Wouldn’t doing what we feel is right bring in those who also resonate with who we are?
What if as an awesome individual with all our own answers somewhere inside of ourselves we just became who we are without worrying what anyone else thought about it? Being you without reservation is the BIGGEST gift that you can give to yourself and the world. So, what if you lose a few! You gain “you” and those that love you for exactly who you are.

Forced Stagnation or Much Needed Me Time?
At present, I’m sitting in an outside mall sipping Starbucks coffee under a nice umbrella. It’s just a little after 9:00am and the mall isn’t open yet, so it’s nice and quiet, save for the piped music, which is pretty peppy. A nice slow flowing, calming music would be more my style at the moment, but…
It’s Thursday, the third day this week I’ve had to juggle clients (for one reason or another) outside of my control. While I’m exceedingly grateful that the clients have been understanding, I’m left wondering what the purpose of all of this is?
I’m thinking that the occurrences this week are actually a manifestation of my thoughts during the previous week. While moseying around a beautiful market enjoying the sounds, sights and smells of all there was to partake in, I remember thinking to myself that I was at peace, enjoying myself, by myself, just being. Thinking that I need to do this more often – partake in events or things that bring me peace.
So, during this imposed stagnation for the past two days, I was in the house working and relaxing. Today I’m out in the sunshine enjoying the solitude amidst the growing hustle and bustle of others beginning their days. There is a benefit to being able to visit my clients in their surroundings for their appointments, so I’m on the road today. I get to enjoy the sunshine, fresh air, and work at the same time… Hmm, maybe I need to become a landscaper! Nah, too many bugs… which is why I’m out of my house today. 🙂
“Me” time is so important to us that are introverts. Introverts need Me time like a flower needs the sun… and often introverts need additional sunshine too! I don’t mind being alone because alone doesn’t mean lonely.
